Medical Update April 2007

Journal of Recovery

Here is my journal of recent recovery and medical information on my recovery. Photos and images are linked without a thumbnail since they are so graphic. They are listed at the bottom of the Medical Updates Page. They are not for the weak stomach.

Tuesday April 2, 2007 The wound is almost healed! Today, I did not put on a bandage. It's still slightly red and the scarring skin is a little dry and flaky, but over all it's looking good. The last few days I have had a little soreness in the center, I suppose new nerves growing in. The veins still look weird, but eventually they should fade as the tissue grows thicker. It does feel sore over all, mostly like a stretch muscle, etc... all in all it's not bad.

The glucose levels were funky the last few days so I called the maker of the meter and they are supposed to send me a new one.. it's been over a week.. guess I'll have to go buy another. Even with the inconsistent readings, my averages should be close... 30 day average is 117, 7 day average is 125. BP still up and down, maybe it's the meter too!.. Well, that's all for now. If all goes well, this will be my last month of updates on the medical front. Happy Easter to all!

Monday April 30, 2007 I have not worn a bandage any this month and all is well over all. The skin on the scar tissue is pealing and there is not feeling coming back into the wound area. It does not hurt to touch it but there is a constant pressure like feeling on it, almost like someone is pressing really hard with a fist. On occasion, there will be a pinch like pain but in general, it is not anything major. I go back to the surgeon so he can see the final healing later this week so unless something changes, this will be my last update. I will post a new photo in a few days as well and will add a first photo and latest photo comparison below. The scar tissue will eventually become thicker and the new veins will face under the new skin as did the big one on the left that is no longer visable. I guess this is a true photo of a "very close" vein
